Drone strike hits major fuel depot in central Sudan

Residents of Abu Haraz said there were several explosions and fires at the Um Aleila petroleum depot early on Sunday.

Sudan Tribune and Dabanga Radio TV reported that RSF drones struck the Um Aleila fuel depot at Abu Haraz, about 20km north-east of Wad Madani in Al Jazirah state, early on Sunday 27 September. Security sources and residents said several explosions were heard after dawn prayers and that petrol and diesel tanks caught fire, with Civil Defence teams working to contain it. The RSF did not comment. The Sudanese army said its air defences shot down an FH-95 drone in North Kordofan, while the RSF said it downed a Bayraktar drone over Blue Nile.

Sudan Tribune and Dabanga Radio TV reported that the attack was carried out by drones of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The depot is a main distribution hub for petrol and diesel across Al Jazirah state and surrounding regions, the reports said.
