Abiy Ahmed reappoints Getachew Reda as adviser on East African affairs with the rank of minister

The statement was posted on X and carried by the Ethiopian News Agency. Getachew Reda served as chief administrator of the Tigray interim administration after the Pretoria peace agreement, and was earlier a spokesman for the TPLF. The appointment comes as Abiy forms his new administration after beginning a new five-year term this month, and while federal forces are fighting in Tigray. The government gave no detail on his responsibilities.
