Tigray Peace Force commander says TPLF leaders crossed into Eritrea; Eritrea and the TPLF reject the claim
Gebregziabher Beyene told residents of Mekelle on Tuesday that TPLF leaders had taken military equipment and medicines to Asmara. Eritrea's information minister called the claim lies, and the TPLF said its leadership is inside Tigray.

The Ethiopian News Agency reported that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said the TPLF had been preparing for war, accusing it of buying weapons, recruiting young people and violating the Pretoria agreement. He called on Tigrayan youth to leave the fighting, saying: "Lay down your Kalashnikov and return to development." The TPLF has not responded to the remarks.
Gebregziabher Beyene, a commander of the pro-government Tigray Peace Force, said while addressing residents of Mekelle on Tuesday that TPLF leaders had crossed the border into Eritrea and had taken a large amount of military equipment and medicines to Asmara. Eritrea's Minister of Information, Yemane Gebremeskel, said the claim was a lie. TPLF vice president Amanuel Assefa told AFP: "The leadership is working within Tigray." AFP said it could not independently verify the claim.
