UN Security Council to hold closed consultations on northern Ethiopia
The Reporter Ethiopia says a UN political and peacebuilding affairs official will brief Council members; no date for the consultations has been announced.

The Reporter Ethiopia said on Saturday that the UN Security Council will hold closed consultations on northern Ethiopia, with an official of the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs briefing Council members. No date has been announced.
The UN Security Council is to hold closed consultations on the deteriorating situation in northern Ethiopia, The Reporter Ethiopia said on Saturday, citing the Security Council Report's monthly forecast for October, published on 1 October. An official of the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs is to brief Council members. The forecast said that where Secretary-General Antonio Guterres once spoke of a "wind of hope" in the Horn of Africa, renewed tensions now threaten a conflict that could draw neighbouring countries into a wider regional war. UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said the situation "remains both extremely worrying and murky" and that there are a lot of humanitarian needs. No date for the consultations has been announced.
