Al Jazeera said Eritrea has in turn voiced concern that Ethiopia may invade in order to gain access to the Red Sea.

Al Jazeera reported on 27 September that Eritrea has rejected the accusation by Ethiopia's Chief of General Staff, Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, that it funds and supports armed groups to weaken Ethiopia. The report said Eritrea has in turn voiced concern that Ethiopia may invade in order to gain access to the Red Sea.
