TPLF warns against any movement at Mekelle airport; Getachew Reda calls it "classic terrorist tactics"
The statement accuses the federal government of using the airport to move troops and supplies, a claim Kulu Media says it could not independently verify.

Kulu Media said the TPLF, in a statement issued on 16 October under the name "Government of Tigray", warned against any movement at Mekelle airport, and that Getachew Reda called the approach "classic terrorist tactics". The outlet said the statement did not explicitly threaten civilian aircraft and that it could not independently verify the accusation that the federal government is using the airport to move troops and supplies.
Kulu Media reported that the TPLF, in a statement issued on 16 October under the name "Government of Tigray", warned against any movement at Mekelle airport. The statement said: "Therefore, we strongly warn that no movement of any kind be made at the airport." It accused the federal government of using the airport to move troops and supplies, a claim Kulu Media said it could not independently verify. The outlet also said the statement did not explicitly threaten civilian aircraft. Getachew Reda, Advisor to the Prime Minister on East African Affairs, called the TPLF's approach "classic terrorist tactics" and wrote: "They are telling us that they will shoot down civilian planes en route to Mekelle." Kulu Media said that was Getachew's interpretation and not an explicit statement in the TPLF text. Ethiopian Airlines resumed flights to Mekelle on 11 October.
