European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced almost 710 million euros in new funding on 26 September during the UN General Assembly high-level week in New York. The package includes 380 million euros in migration-related financing for sub-Saharan Africa and 97 million euros from the EU Emergency Aid Reserve for humanitarian needs. Ethiopia is allocated 60 million euros for a Global Gateway health investment. Other allocations include 103 million euros for Palestine and Lebanon, 52 million euros for Ukraine and 7.5 million euros for the Democratic Republic of Congo Ebola response. "Conflicts, extreme weather and rising living costs are disrupting the lives of many around the globe," von der Leyen said. The Commission said the 252 million euro Emergency Aid Reserve component is pending approval by the budgetary authority.
