Sudan Tribune says an RSF faction commander joined the army with 50 fighters

The report said the commander, al-Tayeb al-Wahidu, arrived in Omdurman on 25 September with five armed vehicles and was received by senior officers.

Sudan Tribune reported that al-Tayeb al-Wahidu, a commander of a splinter RSF faction, joined the Sudanese army in Omdurman on 25 September with about 50 fighters and five armed vehicles, saying "there is no cause worth continuing to fight for". The RSF could not be reached for comment.

Wahidu cited widespread abuses within RSF ranks as his reason for leaving, saying: "There is no cause worth continuing to fight for."

Sudan Tribune said the RSF could not immediately be reached for comment. The report noted earlier defections, including about 200 fighters in late August led by a former RSF intelligence head, Abu Bakr Hamouda Dahlob, and said many recent defectors belong to the Mahamid clan.
