DW Amharic reported on 13 October that residents of South Wollo, North Wollo and Shewa say fighting between federal forces and Amhara Fano fighters has intensified over the past two weeks. Residents named clashes in the Borena woreda towns of Mehal Sayint, Wegdi, Jama and Degaga, in Ambassel woreda, and, from Monday afternoon, in the town of Wegeltena in Delanta woreda.
Residents described fighting at night, civilians leaving towns, and people wounded by gunfire. DW did not publish the residents' full names. Federal and regional authorities have not responded to the accounts.
The public relations office of the Amhara Fano National Movement said it has no military deployment agreement with any other force and that no military integration has been carried out. The accounts are those of residents and have not been independently verified.
