Saudi Arabia complains to the UN over a drone strike on its aid convoy in Sudan

Sudan Tribune reported that Saudi Arabia filed a complaint with the UN Security Council on 26 September. Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Wasil said an RSF drone hit a truck carrying KSrelief aid near El Obeid on 17 August, destroying 1,150 food parcels. No one was killed.

Sudan Tribune reported that Saudi Arabia filed a complaint with the UN Security Council on 26 September over a drone strike on a humanitarian shipment in Sudan. Saudi Arabia's UN ambassador, Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, said the Rapid Support Forces targeted a truck carrying aid from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) near the entrance to El Obeid, capital of North Kordofan, at around midnight on 17 August. He said no one was killed, that 1,150 food parcels were destroyed and that the trailer caught fire. The ambassador condemned the attack and what he described as widespread violations by the RSF, and called for greater protection of aid operations. Sudan Tribune said Saudi authorities had received official confirmation from Sudan's foreign ministry attributing responsibility to the RSF, and that an RSF spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment.
