UAE condemns TPLF attacks and declares full solidarity with Ethiopia's government

Minister of State Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan said the Emirates stands in full solidarity with the government and people of Ethiopia.

The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned the recent attacks by the Tigray People's Liberation Front and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a de-escalation of tensions, in a statement by Minister of State Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan.

The statement urged the protection of civilians, adherence to the Pretoria Peace Agreement and a return to dialogue, and expressed the country's full solidarity with the government and people of Ethiopia.

Earlier this month, Eritrea's foreign minister Osman Saleh accused the Emirates of pursuing what he called "port imperialism" across Africa. "The UAE has port facilities everywhere in the region, and African countries have to ask why. Is it just for economics? No," he told Middle East Eye in Asmara.
