Saudi Arabia has complained to the UN Security Council over a drone strike it blames on the Rapid Support Forces. Saudi UN Ambassador Abdulaziz Al-Wasil said in a letter reported on 26 September that the strike on a King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre truck near El Obeid on 17 August destroyed 1,150 food parcels and set the trailer ablaze, with no casualties. He urged greater protection for humanitarian operations in Sudan, where 33.7 million people need aid.

The UN refugee agency UNHCR says more than 55,000 Sudanese have crossed into eastern Chad this year, with arrivals now running at about 400 a day — roughly 20 times earlier monthly rates. Al Jazeera reported that the 1.6 billion dollar appeal for the Sudan situation is only about 20 percent funded, that some 31,000 families lack adequate shelter, and that the Tine transit centre is holding more than 4,300 people.

The Sudanese army says Al-Tayeb al-Wahidu, commander of a splinter Rapid Support Forces faction, defected in Omdurman on 25 September with 50 fighters and five armed vehicles, and was received by senior military and intelligence officers. Speaking to reporters, Wahidu said "there is no cause worth continuing to fight for", citing widespread abuses within RSF ranks.

Darfur's regional humanitarian aid coordinator Abdulbaqi Mohamed Hamed says the Tina border crossing with Chad has reopened to speed food, medicine and shelter into North Darfur. He said 60 aid trucks crossed at Tina that week and 35 more entered via Al-Dabbah, and that the route cuts the journey from about four days to one day or less compared with the southern Adre crossing.

The Sudanese Doctors Network accuses the Rapid Support Forces of looting and wrecking Sodari Rural Hospital, which it says served more than 50,000 families before the war. It reports wards ransacked and medical equipment stripped, leaving residents without basic care.

The North Kordofan state government and its security committee say an RSF drone attack on a shelter for displaced people in El Obeid killed two and wounded 20. They say it was the second aerial attack on El Obeid in a week, hitting a shelter near the Police Hospital, a fuel station, a passenger bus and a house in the Arafat district.

Tasees, the RSF-allied Sudan Founding Coalition, says a Sudanese army drone strike on Al-Mazrub in North Kordofan killed at least nine civilians and wounded 24 on Friday. A military spokesperson did not immediately respond to Reuters, which said it could not independently verify the casualty figures or the source of the strike.

The Sudanese army and allied Joint Force units say they have taken Sodari in North Kordofan, a town they describe as a main operational base for the Rapid Support Forces. Sudan Tribune reports the RSF presence in the area is now confined to Al-Mazroub and Um Badr in West Bara.
