Abiy Ahmed appoints 62 state ministers across 22 federal ministries

The appointments cover 22 portfolios, among them finance, agriculture, foreign affairs, defence, peace and justice, as well as posts in the Prime Minister's Office and the Government Communication Service. Fana said the step advances the formation of what the government calls the Medemer Government. Parliament opened its seventh term on 5 October and re-elected Abiy prime minister, and on 8 October the House of Peoples' Representatives approved the new Council of Ministers, whose members were sworn in. The report named none of the 62 appointees.
