Wazema Radio reported on 25 September that senior Tigray security officials had been detained in Mekelle on suspicion of passing military intelligence to the federal government. It named Col Tewolde Enbaba, former head of military intelligence in the Tigray security forces, and Isayas Tadesse, head of political affairs and a former TPLF central committee member, and said three further former military commanders had also been detained but did not name them. The report said Lt Gen Tadesse Werede's residence has been under strict security guard since late on 23 September, with family members prevented from entering or leaving. Wazema attributed the account to its sources. Neither the detained officials nor the Tigray authorities had responded at the time of the report.
