BBC says at least 52 civilians were killed in three days of fighting around Alamata, with more than 700 wounded
A doctor at Alamata General Hospital told the broadcaster twelve people were killed in a single market strike; the BBC says federal forces control the town.

The BBC has reported that a doctor said at least 52 civilians were killed in heavy fighting around the town of Alamata between Saturday and Monday.
The broadcaster said the doctor, who works at Alamata General Hospital and asked not to be named, described fighting that involved heavy explosives and artillery.
The doctor said those killed included children as young as three days old, mothers and cattle herders, and that twelve people were killed in a strike on a marketplace.
The report also said hospitals supported by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) had admitted more than 700 wounded people.
The BBC said federal Ethiopian troops had taken control of the town from Tigray forces and intended to push on towards Mekelle.
The TPLF says it is responding to a federal offensive that has included drone strikes, while the Ethiopian government says Tigray forces attacked first after seizing airports in the region.
The BBC said it could not independently verify the reports because of communications blackouts.
