Getachew Reda declares the Tigray war over
The region will stay under a federal transitional command for six months, he says.

Getachew Reda, adviser on East African affairs, has declared that the last round of fighting in Tigray is over and said the region will remain under a federal transitional command for six months.
In an interview with TBS on Sunday 11 October he said the urgent priority is to stabilise the region, with officials working to restore security, repair destroyed infrastructure and prepare for elections.
The TPLF has rejected the claim that the conflict has ended. Deputy chairman Amanuel Assefa and spokesman Mikiele Asgedom warned that further military operations would follow.
Getachew also said senior TPLF leaders had withdrawn towards the Mereb river near the Eritrean border and could not return to Mekelle.
