Two of the seven groups named in Ethiopia's new rebel alliance say they are not part of it

ACLED said the Gumuz movement denied membership and that the ONLF said statements in its name came from a faction. The alliance was announced on 21 September with seven groups.

ACLED said the Gumuz Peoples' Democratic Movement denied being part of the alliance announced on 21 September and said it has no armed wing. ACLED said the ONLF also stated it was not part of the alliance, while one wing of the group confirmed membership.

The same report said the Ogaden National Liberation Front stated it was not part of the alliance, while one wing of the group confirmed membership. Borkena reported on 22 September that the ONLF said statements circulating under its name came from a faction led by former chairman Abdurahman Sheikh Mahdi, which it said holds no official authority, and that the group reaffirmed its peace agreement with the federal government. Natna News could not independently verify the statements.
