Eritrea asks the UN Security Council to condemn Ethiopia and to take Chapter VII measures
Foreign Minister Osman Saleh, in a letter Reuters said it had seen, called Ethiopia's incursion accusation a declaration of war.

Reuters said Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh sent a letter to the UN Security Council on Saturday calling Ethiopia's invasion accusation a declaration of war, and asking the Council to condemn Ethiopia and to take deterrent measures under Chapter VII of the UN Charter. The Eritrean Ministry of Information also reported that the letter had been sent.
Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh wrote to the United Nations Security Council on Saturday, in a letter Reuters said it had seen, calling Ethiopia's accusation that Eritrean forces had entered its territory a declaration of war. Reuters said he described the accusation as part of an Ethiopian plan to find a pretext for a war of aggression, and that he asked the Council to condemn forcefully what he called Ethiopia's declaration of war and to take deterrent measures under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, without saying which measures he wanted. The Eritrean Ministry of Information also reported that the minister had sent the letter. Ethiopia wrote to Council members on Friday saying Eritrean troops had advanced up to 60 kilometres into Tigray and that it had no option but to defend itself. Eritrea denies that its forces crossed the border, and Reuters said it could not verify the reports independently. Reuters said Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment on Saturday.
