New 180,000 cubic metre dam inaugurated at Adi-Hawosha

The Ministry of Information said the dam, built for about 11 million Nakfa, is to supply drinking water and support irrigated farming in the Gala-Nefhi Sub-Zone.

The Eritrean Ministry of Information (Shabait) reported that a new dam holding 180,000 cubic metres of water was inaugurated on 26 September in the Adi-Hawosha Administrative Area. It was built at a cost of about 11 million Nakfa and is intended to supply potable water and support irrigated agriculture.

The Eritrean Ministry of Information (Shabait) reported that a new dam was inaugurated on 26 September in the Adi-Hawosha Administrative Area of the Gala-Nefhi Sub-Zone. It holds 180,000 cubic metres of water and was built at a cost of about 11 million Nakfa through the joint work of a Defence Forces unit, local administrators and residents. The dam was inaugurated by Maj. Gen. Romodan Osman Awelyay, Commander of the Eritrean Defence Forces Training Centre. Engineer Tesfamariam Mengistu, a construction coordinator, said the structure will make a significant contribution to supplying potable water to residents and to developing irrigated agriculture. Recognition certificates were given to contributors at the inauguration ceremony.
