Eritrea tells Geneva meeting that Sudan's Sovereign Council must be the sole state authority and accuses outside powers of arming the RSF
The statement was published by Eritrea's Ministry of Information on Shabait on Thursday. The meeting was convened by Switzerland and the United Nations, with both Eritrea and Ethiopia among the states attending.

The co-chairs of the Geneva meeting, Switzerland's State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Alexandre Fasel and the UN Personal Envoy for Sudan Pekka Haavisto, said the 22 participating states, Eritrea and Ethiopia among them, called for an immediate de-escalation and a humanitarian truce in Sudan, and asked that outside supplies of mercenaries, money and weapons to the warring parties be stopped. Sudan Tribune reported that the meeting also rejected parallel governments and any partition of Sudan.
A statement published by Eritrea's Ministry of Information on Thursday says Eritrea's delegation told the Geneva meeting that Sudan's Sovereign Council must be recognised as the sole state authority and that external actors are supplying the RSF with weapons and mercenaries.
Eritrea's delegation told the Sixth Consultative Meeting on Enhancing Coordination of Peace Initiatives and Efforts in Sudan, held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on 20 and 21 October, that the Sovereign Council must be recognised as the sole state authority in Sudan during the transitional phase. The statement said external actors are supplying the Rapid Support Forces with advanced weapons, weapon systems and mercenaries, and that temporary ceasefires and partial measures "may provide only limited respite and risk prolonging the crisis". It called on outside actors to refrain from unilateral interventions and to respect Sudan's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The meeting was hosted by Switzerland and the office of the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy for Sudan; according to the co-chairs' summary, Eritrea and Ethiopia were among the 22 states that took part.
