Senior Eritrean delegation in Cairo as Egypt pledges to contribute to Eritrea's development
The delegation, led by PFDJ head of economic affairs Hagos Gebrehiwet with Trade and Industry Minister Nesredin Bekit, met Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.

A senior Eritrean government delegation that held talks with Saudi officials two weeks ago on bilateral relations and investment agreements has now arrived in Egypt.
After meeting the delegation — made up of Hagos Gebrehiwet, head of economic affairs of the People's Front for Democracy and Justice, and Trade and Industry Minister Nesredin Bekit — Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said Egypt is committed to contributing to Eritrea's national development efforts and to deepening strategic ties, particularly in the economy, investment, trade and industry.
Abdelatty restated Egypt's full support for Eritrea's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and stressed the importance of raising exchanges between the two countries to a higher level and of encouraging trade and joint investment.
He said Egypt is ready to provide technical assistance and capacity building in priority sectors, and encouraged Egyptian private companies to take a larger part in Eritrean markets and to invest there.
The Cairo talks covered bilateral matters and regional questions of common interest — including the consultative forums the two countries hold in turn in Asmara and Cairo — with detailed discussion of current developments in Sudan and Somalia and of Red Sea security.
Both sides described the continuing strong relationship between Eritrea and Egypt as one of the main pillars of regional peace and stability, and agreed to widen bilateral cooperation in the economy, politics, trade, agriculture, energy and health.
The visit points to the close and effective cooperation Eritrea is pursuing with Egypt amid recent developments in the region and over peace and security in the Red Sea.
