South Africa anti-migrant protest turns into a riot
Dozens of vehicles and homes were burned in Johannesburg, Durban and Soweto, media reports say.

A new protest against undocumented migrants in South Africa has turned into a riot, causing heavy damage to property, media outlets report.
Dozens of vehicles and homes were burned during marches and the unrest that followed in Johannesburg, Durban and Soweto. Reports say shops owned by foreign nationals were also looted.
The unrest follows a similar xenophobic episode a few weeks ago, after which thousands of migrants from neighbouring countries returned home.
South Africans who blame undocumented migrants for unemployment have been calling for everyone without a residence permit to leave. Most of the migrants are said to be nationals of Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi and Nigeria.
