Saudi-led coalition intercepts Yanbu missile as two missiles hit Aden airport
The coalition says it downed four drones; Aden’s security department reports a second strike on the airport in a week.

The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen said that on the evening of 16 October it downed a total of four drones heading towards eastern and southern Saudi Arabia and Riyadh, and that it also intercepted a ballistic missile fired at the port city of Yanbu.
In a short statement the coalition gave no details of damage, nor of the origin or intended target of the drone heading east. It said it had also intercepted a cruise missile fired at the Medina region in western Saudi Arabia on Thursday.
The Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Saree, rejected the claim, saying the group carried out no attack on Saudi territory on Thursday.
On the same day, Aden’s security department said two missiles landed inside the perimeter of the city’s airport, blaming the Iran-aligned Houthi group. It was the second attack on the facility in under a week. The department said a Yemenia aircraft preparing to depart for Cairo was on the apron when the missiles landed. The Houthis have issued no statement on the Aden strike.
Following the attacks, Brent crude touched $110 a barrel for several hours on Friday, the first time it has reached that level since May.
