IMF says AI investment will lift the world economy
Global growth of about three per cent is forecast for 2027.

The International Monetary Fund has indicated that the huge investment going into artificial intelligence could play a positive role in global economic growth.
The Fund, which forecasts that the world economy could grow by about three per cent in 2027, said the largest part of that growth will be driven by investment in technology.
It added that as a result Asia's economy could grow by about one percentage point more than previously forecast.
Asian countries including China, South Korea, Japan and Thailand are carrying out large-scale investment in the sector.
Reports put global investment in artificial intelligence at about 2.7 trillion dollars in 2026, and suggest the figure could reach some 3.5 trillion dollars next year.
