EU to adopt its largest sanctions package yet on Russia
The new measure targets the military industry, above all weapons production.

The European Union has said it will adopt what it describes as its largest ever package of sanctions on Russia.
EU foreign ministers said the new measure targets the military industry and in particular weapons manufacturing.
Once in force, the ministers indicated, the sanctions will severely damage Russian missile production.
Moscow, which said the plan cannot provide a solution to the war in Ukraine, called on the bloc to refrain from hostile steps. It warned that if the sanctions are implemented it will take retaliatory measures that leave deep economic scars on the European Union.
Reports note that the EU has approved 21 rounds of sanctions on Russia since the war in Ukraine began, and that Russia has responded in kind.
