Eritrea Ministry of Information reports that World Tourism Day was observed at national level at Asmara Municipality Hall on 26 September. Liya Gebreab, Director General of Tourism in the Central Region, said the tourism sector has not developed as desired because of existing obstacles, and urged tourism service providers to contribute more actively to developing the sector. Minister of Tourism Askalu Menkerios attended. Solomon Girmay, chairman of the Tourism Service Provision Institutions Association, said the programme would make a significant contribution to increasing the participation of association members in developing tourism resources.
