WHO says it is helping Eritrea prepare for disease outbreaks

Its country office says four rapid health risk assessments were carried out over the past year.

World Health Organization

The World Health Organization's country office in Eritrea said in a short statement on Tuesday 29 September that the organization is providing a range of support to Eritrea's health sector, through the Ministry of Health, to strengthen readiness for any outbreak.

The office said four rapid health risk assessments were carried out over the past year.

It said the organization had supported testing, case management, public communication during outbreaks and community engagement, as well as supplying essential laboratory diagnostic materials.

It added that it had provided capacity-building support to improve early detection of outbreaks and the response to them.
