Trump says Russia wants to end the Ukraine war through talks
He spoke after his 9 October call with Putin and urged Ukraine to hold elections.

President Donald Trump says Russia wants to bring the war in Ukraine to an end through negotiations. He spoke after a telephone call with President Vladimir Putin on 9 October.
Trump accused Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky of not being ready to end the war peacefully, and called on Ukraine to hold elections and choose a leader willing to negotiate.
In the same call, Russia is reported to have agreed to supply oil to world and American markets. The deal is described as easing energy shortages and helping the Russian economy; Zelensky has voiced his opposition.
