Burhan visits army division near the Eritrea and Tigray border after ruling out talks with the RSF
Sudanese state media said the Sovereign Council chairman flew by helicopter to the 11th Infantry Division at Kashm el-Girba on Wednesday. Reports that he issued new military orders there are not independently verified.

General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, chairman of Sudan’s Sovereign Council and commander of the army, visited the headquarters of the 11th Infantry Division at Kashm el-Girba in the Todokunu area on Wednesday 7 October, Sudanese state media reported. The base lies close to the border with Eritrea and with Ethiopia’s Tigray region.
The division commander, Major General Adel Sebderat, received Burhan when he arrived by helicopter and briefed him in detail on the division’s operations and tasks, according to the same reports. Burhan toured several units, inspected their readiness and met officers and soldiers.
A day earlier, on Tuesday 6 October, Burhan told a public gathering in a village near Merowe in the Northern State that his forces were ready to press the military option until the whole country is free of Rapid Support Forces (RSF) control. He repeated that the government and the army reject any dialogue with the RSF, and that the matter will be settled by military force alone.
Some reports have drawn attention to the timing of the Kashm el-Girba visit and suggest he may have issued new military orders there. That has not been independently verified, and no such orders have been announced publicly.
Sudan has repeatedly rejected mediation calls, above all from the United States, arguing that negotiations would place a sovereign government and an armed militia on an equal footing.
Separately, Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Azraq al-Fanjari, a senior commander of an RSF special-task group, said in a video statement that he had left the militia together with about 300 officers and soldiers and 30 combat vehicles, and joined the Sudanese army.
