Yemane: the Ethiopian generals’ boasts are a declaration of invasion
Air force chief General Yilma Merdasa said Ethiopia is on the verge of opening its sea access.

Minister Yemane Ghebremeskel has responded after Ethiopia’s air force commander, General Yilma Merdasa, said the country was on the verge of restoring its sea access and sovereignty.
In a short post on X, Yemane said the commander had brazenly declared an invasion of Assab, in violation of international law and the UN Charter, which protect the territorial integrity of a UN member state.
Senior Ethiopian officers keep making such statements in order to lend credibility to the war preparations the ruling Prosperity Party is said to be making, he added.
Earlier, Deputy Chief of Staff General Abebaw Tadesse boasted that the ultimate destination was Assab and that Mekelle was only a stop-over.
