Somaliland says it stands with Ethiopia
President Irro calls on neighbouring states to stop interfering in Ethiopia’s internal affairs.

The president of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, has said his administration will stand with Ethiopia in any security situation that arises.
Speaking from his office in Hargeisa, the president, widely known as Irro, said Ethiopia’s peace and stability matter to Somaliland.
He also said pressure being applied to Ethiopia by countries he did not name should stop. He gave the comments after returning to Hargeisa from a visit to Washington.
Ethiopia and Somaliland have held a series of diplomatic contacts in recent months. Somaliland’s chief of defence staff is reported to have met Ethiopian defence ministry officials for talks on military co-operation.
Israel remains the only country to have recognised Somaliland as a state and opened a formal embassy there.
