Russian and Iranian foreign ministers hold talks in Tehran
The meeting focused on speeding up last year’s strategic agreement.

The foreign ministers of Russia and Iran held consultations in Tehran on 19 October.
The talks included speeding up implementation of the strategic agreement reached between the two countries last year.
President Vladimir Putin and President Masoud Pezeshkian signed that 20-year strategic agreement in January 2025.
Sergei Lavrov and Abbas Araghchi also discussed global and regional questions, principally the crisis in the Middle East.
Both sides said the crisis can only be settled through dialogue. Reports note that the two ministers have met in person four times this year and spoken by telephone on 14 occasions.
