Eritrea Ministry of Information reports that Foreign Minister Osman Saleh held a series of meetings between 23 and 25 September on the margins of the 81st UN General Assembly. With Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf he discussed peace and security in Africa, including security in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. With Burkina Faso Foreign Minister Karamoko Jean Traore he agreed to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation on issues of common interest. With Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty he exchanged views on measures to strengthen ties between the two countries. He also met Rosemary DiCarlo, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, and Jonathan Powell, the British National Security Adviser, on regional peace and stability. The ministry said meetings were also held with officials from Sudan, Sweden and Greece, without giving details. Separately, Osman Saleh delivered statements at the 50th annual meeting of foreign ministers of the Group of 77 and China, at the high-level meeting on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response, and at the plenary meeting on the threats posed by sea level rise.
