Getachew Reda is met with protest in Raya
He travelled there for his father’s mourning; residents rejected his political appeal, reports say.

Getachew Reda, the former head of the Tigray interim administration and now an adviser to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, was met with protest during a visit to Alamata.
Although the stated purpose of the trip was to attend mourning for his father, reports citing local residents say it was in practice aimed at building new political activity and influence in the area.
Residents made clear that they had no time for the political appeal he brought with him, those reports say.
The protest has been read as a sign that the people of Raya do not accept the previous political process and power structure, and intend to stand on their own decisions.
