Girma Seifu, a politician and head of the city beautification and green development office in the Addis Ababa city administration, said that if a war Ethiopia is compelled to fight breaks out, it should decisively change the map of Eritrea, Ethiopian outlets reported.

In his remarks the politician said it should not be forgotten that the TPLF allowing Eritrean-led forces to operate in Tigray would be a historic mistake with grave consequences.

He argued that Ethiopia should go beyond a proportionate response and take steps to correct what he called historical errors, so as to remove a long-term security threat.

He also said the Ethiopian navy should prepare in line with that objective, describing the move as more than an eastern bulwark and as something that would create peace and economic partnership benefiting the region and the wider world.

Calling on the Prosperity Party, he said a government's true capacity is measured not only by its ability to collect taxes in peacetime but by navigating challenges of this kind successfully in the national interest.
