Egypt and Somalia discuss Red Sea security
The talks focused on implementing the outcomes of the El Alamein summit.

Egypt and Somalia have held talks on implementing the outcomes of the El Alamein summit and on security in the Red Sea.
Egypt’s foreign minister, Badr Abdelatty, spoke by telephone on Sunday with his Somali counterpart, Abdisalam Ali, and the two reviewed strategic developments in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea in detail.
Earlier this month President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi hosted a joint summit with President Isaias Afwerki of Eritrea, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia and the head of Sudan’s transitional sovereign council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s continued support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The emerging alignment holds that governance of the Red Sea is the responsibility of its littoral states alone.
