Egypt rejects Turkey–east Libya maritime deal
Cairo calls the agreement null and void, saying it carries no legal effect.

Egypt’s foreign ministry said in an official statement that the maritime boundary agreement ratified between the east Libya-based parliament and Turkey is null and void.
Cairo said the deal has no legal effect or consequence for Egypt and violates its economic zone and interests.
Analysts say the dispute is likely to further aggravate already heightened geopolitical tension in the eastern Mediterranean.
In related news, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said his country’s military efforts are aimed solely at defending Saudi Arabia’s territory and borders, and that there is no plan to strike Yemen.
