Egypt bars military sea access for landlocked states
Commercial access is allowed under agreement, but Red Sea military access is refused.

Egypt says it will permit commercial access through agreements with coastal states, but has barred landlocked countries from military access to the Red Sea.
Egypt’s foreign minister, Badr Abdelatty, set out the position and stressed the importance of co-operation with Saudi Arabia to strengthen maritime security in the region.
The decision comes as Ethiopia’s push for access to the sea raises new political questions in the Horn of Africa and the Middle East.
While allowing commercial routes, Cairo’s refusal of military movement is seen as intended to preserve its strategic influence in the region.
