Abiy Ahmed and Netanyahu hold a telephone call
The call came at a moment of sharply rising military tension between Ethiopia and Eritrea.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has said he spoke by telephone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Israel and exchanged views at length on regional developments, according to the statement.
The main focus of the call was said to be deepening cooperation in telecommunications, aviation, logistics and energy.
The conversation follows a similar recent telephone exchange between Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos and Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar.
