Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed received Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Addis Ababa on the morning of Tuesday 29 September.

In an official statement, the Somali presidency, Villa Somalia, said the president had made a one-day working visit.

The statement said the meeting focused on strengthening the long-standing relationship between the two countries and on addressing the security and political situation in the region. It gave no further detail.

It is the fourth time Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has met Abiy Ahmed, and the visit comes as both leaders face political and security pressure at home and across the region.
