They had been convicted over what authorities called an immoral act inside the Grand Mosque in Mecca.

Two Bangladeshi nationals, Nazrul Islam Abdul Basir and Siti Akhtar, have been put to death by the Saudi authorities after being convicted of an immoral act inside the Grand Mosque in Mecca.
According to social media and Bangladeshi news outlets, the charge arose when the couple, who were newly married and visiting Mecca on their honeymoon, were seen as the husband kissed his wife on the forehead.
The gesture was described as an expression of thanks to God for their marriage.
Their bodies were returned to Bangladesh in two coffins for burial.
