Ethiopia warned it could face an unprecedented drought
A water and climate specialist says the cycle has reached what is known as a super El Niño

Dr Tirusew Asefa, a water resources and climate specialist, has warned that Ethiopia could face the most severe drought in its recorded history.
He said the rise in climate temperatures now being recorded has pushed the cycle to the dangerous level known as a super El Niño, and expressed concern that conditions could intensify further.
The drought now expected could be worse than the devastating drought of the 1980s that left millions of Ethiopians exposed to famine, he said.
What makes the outlook more serious, Ethiopian reports note, is that the country is facing it while already dealing with insecurity and fuel supply shortages.
