Eritrea issues strong warning over threats to Assab
A statement says Eritrea’s patience is close to running out.

Eritrea has issued a strong warning, saying it will never accept the boasting coming from the Ethiopian government or any attempt to seize Assab.
Unless the movement of Ethiopian forces along Eritrea’s borders and the repeated threats of invasion over the port of Assab stop, the statement said, Eritrea will take uncompromising steps to defend its sovereignty.
While Eritrea does not want war, it said, the strategic miscalculation being made by the Ethiopian federal government will lead to severe consequences.
Eritrea wants not a single inch of Ethiopian, Sudanese or Djiboutian land, the statement added, and by the same measure will not surrender a single inch of its own sovereign territory to anyone.
It said Eritrea has long borne this arrogance with patience, but that the time when that patience runs out is near, and its silence should not be read as fear.
