Analysts say those who fuelled the Horn crisis now present themselves as its mediators
The rupture between Ethiopia, Eritrea and Egypt should not be treated as a surprise, analysts argue

The tension between Ethiopia, Eritrea and Egypt that has been building for months, and that has now reached a formal diplomatic break, should not be treated as a surprise, political analysts say.
Umut Çağrı, a Turkish analyst who follows the Horn of Africa, wrote on X on Friday that many people will now expect the United States'' adviser for Arab and African affairs to resolve the crisis, but argued that earlier diplomatic efforts had made matters worse rather than better.
He also criticised the European Union for extending financial support to Ethiopia during the period in which it was threatening its neighbours, and said no party had objected to the United Arab Emirates'' involvement in the region.
These are the analyst''s own views. NatnaTV has not independently verified the claims, and the parties named have not responded.
