Ethiopian foreign affairs institute accuses Egypt and Eritrea
Researchers say the two countries have opened a war with help from insiders.

Researchers at Ethiopia’s Institute of Foreign Affairs say Egypt and Eritrea, working with individuals inside the country, have opened a war against Ethiopia.
In an interview with EBC, senior researcher Gashaw Ayeferam said Egypt is working to preserve its dominance around the Red Sea and to prevent Ethiopia from obtaining sea access.
The institute’s lead researcher, Shimelis Hailu, said diplomatic relations should be conducted with respect for state sovereignty and without interference in internal affairs.
The two countries, he said, are breaching international law by supporting and arming insurgent groups.
The researchers nevertheless maintained that such schemes cannot undermine the foundations of the Ethiopian state. Eritrea has repeatedly rejected accusations of this kind.
