Egypt's presidency said President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's support for Eritrea's security, stability and sovereignty in his talks with Isaias Afwerki at New Alamein on Saturday. Presidential spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy said el-Sisi rejected any violation of state sovereignty or territorial integrity in breach of international law, and stressed continued coordination with Eritrea on stability in the Horn of Africa and security in the Red Sea. Isaias said Egypt and Eritrea held broadly aligned views on regional developments, particularly on respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity and non-interference in internal affairs. Ahram Online reported the statement.

Eritrea's Ministry of Information said Isaias Afwerki and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi held extensive talks at New Alamein on Saturday. It said Isaias underlined the convergent positions of Eritrea and Egypt on regional matters, and that el-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's readiness to deepen bilateral ties through economic partnership projects in priority sectors.
