Kulu Media said Getachew Reda, adviser to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, told Tigrai Broadcasting Service (TBS) on Sunday that the latest war in Tigray has ended and that the region will stay under a federal command post for six months. It said he named restoring security, rebuilding damaged infrastructure and preparing for elections under the National Election Board of Ethiopia as the tasks, and put the return of displaced people, especially from Western Tigray, first. No election date has been announced. Kulu Media said he also claimed senior TPLF leaders had withdrawn toward the Mereb River near the Eritrean border and could not return to Mekelle, and that their locations are not independently confirmed.

The Associated Press said Getachew Reda, adviser to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, told supporters at Mekelle airport on Sunday: "I would like to assure you on this occasion that we will bring visible change, a change beyond mere hope." He did not elaborate. AP said the national intelligence chief, Redwan Hussein, greeted him at the airport.
