Addis Standard reported on Thursday that at least six schoolchildren were killed and more than 20 wounded in the strike on Sana Elementary School. It said other accounts put the dead at seven to ten and the wounded above 25, figures it could not verify. A teacher at the school told the paper that no armed people were in or near the compound, disputing claims circulated on social media that Fano fighters were based nearby. Addis Standard said the Ethiopian military did not respond to its request for comment.

ACLED reported that Ethiopian federal forces re-entered Nirak in the Wag Hamra zone of Amhara on Tuesday, and that the Agaw armed group and Tigray forces, which had taken the town on Monday, began withdrawing from it.

Borkena reported on Wednesday that at least six schoolchildren were killed and 27 wounded in the drone strike on Sana Elementary School in Dera district, South Gondar. Fano spokesman Gashaw Gizat told Anchor Media the strike came while classes were in session, and said a second drone strike hit an administrative building in Wollesh, South Gondar, about an hour and a half later. Pro-government activists said the attack targeted Fano forces and that no children were killed. The casualty figures have not been independently verified, and neither the Government Communication Service nor the Ethiopian Defence Force has confirmed or denied the strike.

Borkena reported on Wednesday, citing Anchor Media and Fano forces, that a drone struck Sana Elementary School in Dera district, South Gondar, at about 10am on Tuesday while classes were in session. The reports attributed the strike to the Ethiopian Defence Force. Fano said the number of dead and wounded had not been established. The claim could not be independently verified and the Ethiopian government has not commented.
